Our close family friend “Uncle David” was such a lovely kind man, and we are lucky to have so many fond memories of our time spent together in years gone by.
We will never forget the great family holidays we had together, and it must be said that Uncle David built the best racing cars in the sand. The playing of cricket and badminton often caused ciaos but was such good fun whether it was on the beach in Hunstanton, Skegness or up here in Whitley Bay or Tynemouth.
We understand that it was our dads love of playing golf that got Uncle David hooked and we know how much they enjoyed walking the fairways.
We are so honoured to have had a family friendship spanning six decades. Andrew & Julia, my sister Susan and I have lost both parents, but we will ensure that the bond of friendship they created will continue for years to come.
We are so lucky to have had Uncle David in our lives, and we are sending our love and support to Andrew, Julia and all the family.

I am very proud to have known, loved and been loved by my Nanna and Grandad. They were kind and caring right up until the very end. When I’d ask them how they were in their final weeks, they’d reply “oh, not too bad”, despite suffering from their illnesses. They would always change the subject to ask me about how I was doing instead. They were selfless and I will love them forever. I can take comfort in the fact that they’re back together.

“It seems to me, that if we love, we grieve. That’s the deal. That’s the pact. Grief and love are forever intertwined. Grief is the terrible reminder of the depths of our love and, like love, grief is non-negotiable.” - Nick Cave
